The patron saint of San Fele is Saint Sebastian, celebrated on 20 January. Almost nothing remained of the old church dedicated to him after the earthquake of 1456: a Norman-style tower, today incorporated into a palace, is all that stayed standing.
The mother church of Santa Maria della Quercia, built in 1514 at the foot of Monte Castello, in the highest part of the town, was built reusing rubble from the collapses of the castle and the walls; the main structure, with three naves and a Greek-cross plan, dates from the 16th century, while the dome is from the 18th. Inside it holds an old life-size wooden crucifix and a 17th-century painting found in a monastery. About ten kilometres from the town, on a wooded plateau, stands the sanctuary of the Madonna di Pierno, commissioned by Saint William of Vercelli to a design by the architect Sarolo di Muro in the 12th century: it too was damaged by the 1456 earthquake, and archaeological excavations carried out above the church have brought to light the remains of the ancient abbey, perhaps built over an even older, pre-Norman structure.
