Antonimina

At Antonimina water is also an address: of the three hamlets one is called Bagni Termali, and the other two are San Nicola and Tre Arie. The springs are chloride and feed the hydrotherapy establishment that carries the village's name; it is for them that Antonimina, founded around 1400 on the Ionian side of Aspromonte, is known beyond its own borders. The territory lies inside the Aspromonte national park and borders Gerace, Locri, Cittanova, Ciminà, Portigliola and Sant'Ilario dello Ionio. The patron is Saint Nicholas, whose day is 6 December.

The most conspicuous height is Monte San Pietro, which here they call Tre Pizzi for the three spires that close it: 708 metres. At Saramico the ground gave pitch lignite and barium sulphate, and for a time it was dug; the comune's arms, granted in 1993, are younger than those workings. Today the quarries are still, and what is worked again is the hot water.
