Feast of Saint Blaise
📅 Every year, on 3 February
On 3 February Scido celebrates Saint Blaise with a solemn procession of the saint's statue through the streets of the town: it is the most important of its religious festivals.
Scido was a casale of Santa Cristina. In 1711, together with four other casali, it tried to govern itself and was forced back into line; it took more than a century for the thing to work: on the first of January 1838 Scido and Santa Giorgia broke away and made a comune of their own, with the seat here.
The village sits on a flat triangle between two torrents, the Cresarini and the Pietragrande, in the middle of stretches of centuries-old olive trees. Among the trades still carried on here is that of pipes carved by hand. The name is said to come from an old personal name, Ascidius, but nobody is sure of it.
