The patron of Altavilla Irpina is Saint Bernardino of Siena, celebrated on 20 May.
The town holds the Shrine of Saint Pellegrino the martyr and Saint Alberico Crescitelli: on 21 July, Saint Alberico is celebrated, a local missionary martyred in China and canonized on 1 October 2000 by Pope John Paul II, while on 24 and 25 August Saint Pellegrino the Martyr is celebrated, with the traditional procession of penitents. On 18 August, the Palio dell'Anguria is held, a bareback donkey race during a historical parade recalling Costanza Chiaramonte's brief stay in the 15th century. The town also holds the Pietro Nenni amphitheatre and the civic museum of people without history.
