Casal di Principe

Province: Caserta · Region: Campania · Population: 20,828 · Postal code: 81033

On 19 March 1994 Father Peppe Diana was murdered by the Camorra in his own church, guilty of writing, with the parish priests of the area, "For love of my people I will not stay silent". Thirty years on, Casal di Principe has turned that wound into its flag: properties confiscated from the clans now host cooperatives that farm and employ, and the house named after Don Diana tells the story of a land's redemption.

The town of 20,828 remains above all what it always was: the heart of the Agro Aversano, the buffalo plain producing one of the world's most celebrated mozzarellas. Buying it here — ideally from a dairy born on confiscated land — is the most concrete way to take sides.
