The patron saint of Casavatore is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June in the church named after him, with the traditional Festa dei Gigli.
In 1678, several hamlets of the Neapolitan countryside were put up for sale, including Casavatore: the local residents, however, paid a 2,000-ducat ransom to avoid being enfeoffed, thus managing to retain their autonomy. The town also holds the church of Gesù Cristo Lavoratore.
