The patron of Meta is Santa Maria del Lauro, celebrated on 12 September; her statue is venerated in the basilica of Santa Maria del Lauro, the town's parish church, where tradition holds it was found in the 8th century.
During Holy Week the town keeps another cherished custom: on Maundy Thursday the white procession of the Santissima Immacolata parades, and on Good Friday the black one of the Santissimo Crocifisso and the Pio Monte dei Morti.
