The patron saint of Comacchio is Saint Cassian, whose patronal feast, on 13 August, is one of the most cherished and eagerly awaited events for the local community, celebrating the deep bond between the saint and the town: on the day of his memorial, the historic regatta with traditional boats is held.
The patronal parish churches of the hamlets of San Giuseppe in Bosco Eliceo, dating from the 18th century, and of Porto Garibaldi, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception and dating from the 19th century, also belong to the vicariate of San Cassiano in the archdiocese of Ferrara-Comacchio. Since 1999 the town has also hosted the Eel Festival, while since 2006 the International Birdwatching Fair, linked to the Valli di Comacchio, has been held annually.
