One of the patrons of Bobbio is Saint Columbanus, the Irish monk who founded the famous Abbey here, celebrated on 23 November.
Every year, for the patronal feast, the Festa di San Colombano is held, with a eucharistic celebration and the distribution of the Pane di San Colombano, a giant loaf of bread shaped like the saint's statue. The town's local, folk and theatrical festivities are cared for by the Ra familia Bubièiza. The town also holds the Castello Malaspina Dal Verme and the Monastery of San Francesco.
