The patron saints of Novafeltria are Saint Peter and Saint Paul, celebrated on 29 June.
The town, called Mercatino Marecchia («Marcatéin» in the Romagnolo dialect) until 1941 precisely because it was a centre of trade and fairs, was formed in 1907 from the union of hamlets split off from the town of Talamello. It belonged to the Marche region, in the province of Pesaro e Urbino, until 15 August 2009. The town holds the Sulphur Mining Museum and the Castle of Secchiano.
