A roll cut and filled with tuna, capers, salami and cheese: a simple sandwich, born out of necessity and turned into a town symbol, among the trulli of Alberobello.
It takes its name from its inventor, the delicatessen owner Pasquale Dell'Erba, who put it together in 1958 in his shop, mixing whatever he had on the counter. The recipe has stayed the same, passed down over the years among the town's delicatessens.
Since 2018, every summer, Alberobello has dedicated a multi-day festival to the Pasqualino, with stalls and tastings in the square: a shop sandwich turned into the occasion for a town celebration.
