Campolongo Tapogliano

Province: Udine · Region: Friuli Venezia Giulia · Population: 1,210 · Postal code: 33040

The municipality has not been there long: it was born on the first of January 2009 from the merger of Campolongo al Torre and Tapogliano, two neighbouring villages that both kept their names. The town hall is at Campolongo, and into the new coat of arms went the emblems of the two former municipalities: the lion of Saint Mark and the maritime pine on one side, the wall and the star on the other.

The churches have stayed as they were, one to each village: San Giorgio at Campolongo, San Martino at Tapogliano, and Santa Maria Assunta at Cavenzano, which is the third hamlet. At Tapogliano there is also the oratory of Saint Margaret of Cortona. Eastern Friulian is spoken here, and in Friulian the municipality is called Cjamplunc Tapoian.
