The patrons of Tarvisio are Saints Peter and Paul, celebrated on 29 June in the Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo.
The town's popular traditions are influenced by nearby Carinthia and Slovenia, of which Tarvisio was part during the Habsburg empire: the town's characteristic feast is that of Saint Nicholas, who on 5 December is accompanied by the Krampus in every hamlet. The town also holds the Mining Museum and looks out over the Fusine Lakes Nature Park.
