The temple of Jupiter Anxur sits on Mount Sant'Angelo like a loggia over the Tyrrhenian: its arcades from the age of Sulla, floodlit at night, are Terracina's symbol and one of Lazio's most spectacular belvederes. Below, the town lives in two registers: the Roman-medieval upper centre with the Emilian forum — its ancient paving still exposed — and the marina with kilometres of beach.
The Appian Way enters town as its main axis: here the Pisco Montano cliff was cut sheer by the Romans to let the road pass. The port reaches Ponza in an hour; Moscato di Terracina vineyards sweeten the farewell.
