The patron saint of Marino is Saint Barnabas the Apostle, celebrated on 11 June with a religious patronal feast long held in this town of the Castelli Romani, in the province of Rome.
The town's best-known event, however, is another one: the Sagra dell'Uva (Grape Festival), held every first Sunday of October. It was established in 1925 on the initiative of the poet Leone Ciprelli, following the «feste castromenie» organised in 1904, and has been faithfully celebrated every year since, so much so that the Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro granted it the title of Sagra, reserved for only a few other similar events in Italy. Its roots, however, lie in an older historical fact: coinciding with the secular festival, Our Lady of the Rosary is also celebrated, commemorating the Holy League's victory over the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Lepanto on 7 October 1571. Reaching its hundredth edition in 2024, the Sagra dell'Uva of Marino has been called «the last of the Roman ottobrate» (autumn countryside outings).
