The patron saint of Serra Riccò is Saint Roch of Montpellier, whose liturgical date falls on 16 August, while the patronal feast is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. The sanctuary dedicated to him, in the main hamlet of Pedemonte, stands at the confluence of the Pernecco stream and the Secca torrent: it was raised in the 16th century in thanks for having protected the population from the terrible Black Death epidemic of the 14th century, although the place of worship is first mentioned only in 1771. On the occasion of the feast, a procession is held with the participation of many confraternities, carrying their own «Cristi» in the parade.
The territory of Serra Riccò, in the upper Polcevera valley, followed the historical events of the whole valley: its hamlets suffered dire consequences in the 14th century during the struggles between Guelphs and Ghibellines, in 1507 when the troops of the French king Louis XII came down to reconquer Genoa, and in 1746-1747 with the Austrian occupation during the War of the Austrian Succession.
