The patron of Brugnato is Saint Paschal, celebrated on 17 May.
The main church of the village is the co-cathedral of Saints Peter, Lawrence and Columbanus: it was once an early cemetery basilica, and today's building goes back to the 11th-12th century, when Brugnato became a diocese and a suffragan see of the archdiocese of Genoa. Beside it stands the bishop's palace, the bishop's residence since 1133, raised on the foundations of the older abbey of San Colombano; today it houses the diocesan museum. For Corpus Christi the old centre is covered with the infiorata, the carpet of flowers.
