Above Veravo stand the ruins of a castle that the marquises of Clavesana kept within sight of the one at Alto, over the Piedmontese border: it served to watch the goods passing between the coast and the plain, and to make them pay the toll.
On the Pennavaira and the Oresine there are still three medieval single-arch bridges, on the old mule tracks. The valley is made of cliffs, and the hamlet of Colletta is on the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy. At the beginning of the twentieth century many left here for the Americas, and few came back. The population is 321.
