The patron of Brignano Gera d'Adda is Saint Francis of Assisi, celebrated on the first Sunday of October; he succeeded, over time, Saint Boniface of Lausanne.
Sagramoro, natural son of Bernabò Visconti and Montanina de' Lazzari, was legitimized by his father and in 1380 enfeoffed with the Lordship of Brignano Gera d'Adda, becoming the founder of the Visconti di Brignano dynastic line. Sagramoro died assassinated in 1385 at the hands of his cousin Gian Galeazzo Visconti, Lord and Duke of Milan. The town also holds the Shrine of the Madonna dei Campi and the Church of Sant'Andrea.
