The name of Entratico, according to the most recent studies, is Celtic and means «village of the cave». The cave is really there: it is the Buca del Corno, about 400 metres long, where water has worked the rock for millennia and where excavation has found traces of human presence going back to the Stone Age. Stories grew up around it: ghosts, sprites. Today it is lit and can be visited on holidays, and it has ended up on the municipal coat of arms together with the tower, the vine and a column of rock for the quarries of the valley.

The name, though, took a thousand years to settle: Lantradico in the tenth century, Lintratico in the thirteenth, Intratico in the sixteenth, Entratico only from the eighteenth. The first document that mentions it is from 830, and concerns the sale of a house to San Carpoforo di Trescore. In 1393 the clashes between Guelphs and Ghibellines were so bloody here that they left dead and wounded; and between 1927 and 1948 the village was united with Luzzana before taking back its autonomy.
