The patron saint of Treviglio is Saint Martin, celebrated on 11 November in the Basilica di San Martino e Santa Maria Assunta. For the occasion, at the end of June, a medieval dinner is held in the library cloister — a former hospital and, before that, a monastery — served by performers in period costume.
The town's most heartfelt patronal feast, however, is that of Our Lady of Tears, celebrated on the last day of February with a solemn mass held by the cardinal of Milan in the sanctuary dedicated to her, in the presence of civil authorities: the devotion recalls the threat of destruction from which the town escaped with honour thanks to her intercession.
