The patroness of Valtorta is Santa Maria Assunta (Assumption of Mary), celebrated on 15 August; the municipality holds the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta. On the evening of 14 August, the eve of the municipal festival, the annual tombola is held in the sports ground, drawing people from outside Valtorta thanks to the large prizes on offer.
By tradition the event is hosted by the mayor and, despite the limited capacity of the village streets, on some occasions it has reached 3,000 attendees. The municipality also holds the Museo etnografico dell'Alta Valle Brembana.
