Peglio stands on a natural terrace above Gravedona, looking out over the upper lake of Como. In the statutes of Como of 1335 it appears as one of the communes of the parish district of Gravedona bound to keep in repair a stretch of the via Regina, the one between the bridge «de Acqua Marcida» and the marker in the middle of the road of the Ganda: a village identified by the piece of road it answered for. The fief then passed to Lucrezia Crivelli, to the Medeghino and finally to the Gallio family, who stayed until well into the eighteenth century.
What really matters here, though, begins at the end of the sixteenth century, when the people of Peglio started emigrating to Palermo. They did not forget the place: from down there they sent the money for the works of their village, and much of the decoration of the church of Santi Eusebio e Vittore, like the rebuilding of the oratory of the Madonna del Gorghiglio in 1779, was paid for by them. On the stone houses you can still see the doorways, the window grilles and the sills of those years, and in the hamlet of Argesio, on the outside wall of a house, there is a Madonna between Saint Charles and Saint Catherine painted by the Fiammenghino in 1619.
