Trezzone

Province: Como · Region: Lombardy · Population: 237 · Postal code: 22010

In the statutes of Como of 1335 the village is written Trezono montis Surici and belongs to the parish of Olonio; on 9 November 1456 the seat of the parish was moved to Sorico, and Trezzone followed it. Later it fell within the fief of the Tre Pievi of the lake, which in 1497 Ludovico il Moro gave to Lucrezia Crivelli.

From the sixteenth century on, many from here went to Palermo: that was where the emigration of these lake villages went. The parish church, once Romanesque, keeps a fresco of 1484 and paintings by Como artists. The municipality still has no official coat of arms; and as for the people, today they are about as many as in 1751, after having been many more in the middle of the nineteenth century.
