Feast of Saint Paul
📅 Every year, on 25 January
On 25 January, the day of the Conversion of Saint Paul, Monte Marenzo celebrates its patron Saint Paul, to whom the parish church is dedicated.
Monte Marenzo is a comune split in two that cannot reach itself. On one side is the centre, San Paolo, where the people live; on the other the hamlet of Levata, where the workshops and factories are. Between them runs a farm track that can only be walked: to drive from one to the other you have to leave the comune and go through Calolziocorte.
Its allegiances have always been double as well. Until 1992 the village was in the province of Bergamo, then it passed to that of Lecco. And the parish, already relatively autonomous in 1216, stayed in the diocese of Milan until 1787: it then passed to Bergamo, but kept the Ambrosian rite. On the coat of arms is the eagle of the Marenzi above the castle of Cantagudo, of which some ruins remain on the hill of Santa Margherita.
