At Corte Sant'Andrea, today a hamlet of Senna Lodigiana, you cross the Po. Sigeric, archbishop of Canterbury, crossed it too, on his way back from Rome around 990, and noted the stage: the transitus Padi of the via Francigena is here, and the Francigena still runs through the comune. But the village mattered even earlier: between 915 and 917 three diplomas of emperor Berengar I were drawn up in a Curte Sinna, which means that the imperial court was here.

Senna has other distant connections. In 1880 don Enrico Pozzoli was born here, the priest who in 1936 would baptise the future pope Francis. And the municipal coat of arms, recognised in that same 1936, had the fascio littorio in its chief: after the war it was replaced by the emblem of the Republic, and in the most recent versions the chief has been removed altogether.
