Saints Nazarius and Celsus, patrons of the land of the Fatima shrine
📅 Every year, on 28 July
Bussero celebrates Saints Nazarius and Celsus on 28 July, in the parish church dedicated to them.
Bussero takes its name from box, the evergreen shrub behind a common Lombard surname. The village, brushed by the Martesana canal, appears on maps of the plain east of Milan by 852; three centuries later it gave its name to a family of standing, said to have founded the hospital of San Barnaba in Milan in 1145, with the Goffredo da Bussero who was a relative and namesake of the better-known chronicler.
The arms assemble the three families that held the fief. From the de Bussero, natives of the place, come the two gold stars in chief; from the Olgiati the silver fish in base, out of the pike on their arms; from the Greppi, who replaced them in the eighteenth century, the blue lily on the fess. The field is red. The oldest villa here is the Casnati, recorded in the first half of the sixteenth century.
