The patron saints of Cornaredo are Saints James and Philip: the first weekend of September is synonymous with the town feast, in memory of the consecration of the parish church dedicated to them.
The church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo, built in the second half of the 19th century in neoclassical style, stands in the historic centre and overlooks Piazza Libertà, the heart of town life: it was opened to worship on 4 October 1863, the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary, and blessed by the then provost of the basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, monsignor Francesco Maria Rossi, who had laid its foundation stone in 1862. The town also holds the church of Santa Croce and that of Sant'Apollinare.
