Located nine kilometers west of central Milan, this municipality of roughly 19,100 residents was known simply as Settimo until a formal name change in 1862.
The town functions as a practical extension of the western Milanese metropolitan area, sharing municipal borders with neighboring centers such as Rho, Cornaredo, and Cusago. Despite a thoroughly modern corporate landscape, the area retains some local linguistic roots, with its name translated to Settim in the traditional Milanese dialect.
