The patron of Lacchiarella is Our Lady of the Assumption, celebrated on 15 August in the Chiesa prepositurale di Santa Maria Assunta.
The town was known since ancient times for goose farming: in 1833 Cesare Cantù described it as a «town famous for its geese». Starting in 1977, drawing on the traditional games of 15 and 16 August, once the patronal and town feast, the «ciarlaschi» compete for the Goose Palio. The contest is held over the first three Sundays of autumn, the last of September and the first two of October, hence the name Autunno Ciarlasco; seven districts vie for the Palio. The town also holds the Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo.
