Truccazzano is a comune of 5,968 people in the Metropolitan City of Milan, in the Martesana area within the Parco Adda Nord. It comprises the main village, the frazioni of Albignano, Cavaione and Corneliano Bertario, and the hamlets Cascina Rosina, Cascina Rossa and Incugnate. The boundaries took shape in stages: annexed in 1809, Albignano and Incugnate rejoined the comune for good in 1841, and Corneliano Bertario and Cavaione in 1869; the three stars on the coat of arms stand for these frazioni, and the tower recalls a medieval one near the Adda.
The village's name is traced to Captain Giovanni Trocazano da Soncino, who served under Martino Torriani: he wounded and captured the fierce Ezzelino da Romano, took him to Soncino, where he died on 28 September 1259; Giulini says he gave his own name to the place of his victory. The tower on the arms has a real counterpart in the Torrettone, a ruin on the road to Rivolta d'Adda built on a bluff above the ancient Lago Gerundo, whose last marshes were reportedly drained by Frederick Barbarossa.
