Vimodrone celebrates Saint Remigius on 13 January, in the church dedicated to him.
The village's name ended up in a famous surname: in 1690 Nicola Maria Visconti was granted the fief here along with the title of marquis, and since then that branch of the family has been called Visconti di Modrone — the same as Luchino, the film director.
Outside the built-up area, on the Padana road, stands Santa Maria Nova, the church of the Pilastrello: it was raised from 1524 with people's offerings, beside a Roman milestone — the sixth mile from Milan — and inside there are frescoes from Luini's school. Carlo Borromeo, passing in 1572, found it «satis pulchra». The Naviglio Martesana crosses the town; there are 16,426 residents.
