Saints Ambrose and Charles, and Benedict XVI's plenary indulgence
📅 Every year, on the third Sunday of October
Roncello celebrates Saints Ambrose and Charles on the third Sunday of October, in the church dedicated to them.
The feudal castle of Roncello is still there, but you have to know where to look: it stands in the middle of the village, at the corner of via Roma and via Manzoni, and it has been divided into flats. People live in it. The municipal arms, granted in 1974, record instead who was in charge: on one side the arms of the Schiafinati of Milan, who held the fief of Busnago — of which Roncello was part — from 1665 to 1756, on the other those of the Alemagna, feudal lords of Roncello from 1756 onwards. Above, a cogwheel, for the factories.
Three thousand nine hundred and twenty-five inhabitants, and recently in a new province: until 2009 Roncello was in the province of Milan, then it passed to that of Monza and Brianza. In 1809 it had been annexed to Busnago. The parish church is dedicated to Saints Ambrose and Charles, and on its left-hand door is depicted the pastoral visit that Carlo Borromeo made here: it was he who wanted the village to build itself a church. In 1950 the footballer Paolo Pulici was born at Roncello.
