The patron saint of Vimercate is Saint Stephen, celebrated on 3 August with the traditional Fair of Saint Stephen, in the church named after him.
In the historic centre, near the collegiate church of Santo Stefano, stands the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary, an important place of worship in the town, today the main seat of the parish and deanery, while the collegiate church is used only on feast days or special occasions. Among the town's other traditions are the Feast of Saint Anthony, which culminates on 17 January with the traditional bonfire in the bed of the Molgora stream, and the Potato Fair, held in mid-September in the hamlet of Oreno, enlivened by a historical procession and a checkers match played by figures in 13th-century costume.
