Half the municipality was called Abbazia d'Acqualunga, after a channel of the Po and after a Cistercian monastery that became autonomous in 1204. That abbey was later granted in commendam to Francesco Todeschini Piccolomini, nephew of Pope Pius the Second; having become pope himself as Pius the Third, in 1503 he passed it on to Galeazzo Pietra of Pavia, who would be the first bishop of Vigevano. Once the monastery was suppressed, the village stayed a municipality until the nineteenth century, and in 1818 it was joined to Frascarolo.
In the cemetery of Frascarolo there is something you would not expect in a village of a thousand people: the chapel of the Vochieri family, with marbles by Leonardo Bistolfi, the symbolist sculptor, who also signed the war memorial plaque on the front of the school. The Vochieri also owned the Visconti castle, the one with the moat and the corner towers, which they had restored in the eighteen-eighties.
