On 11 November Caldarola celebrates its patron Saint Martin, to whom the Collegiata di San Martino is dedicated.
In 1587 Sixtus V made Evangelista Pallotta a cardinal, and Pallotta did to his own village what the pope was doing to Rome: he opened a wide square and set on it his own palace, the collegiate church and the sanctuary; but he also had workshops built, to give the place trades and not only monuments. To paint it all he called Simone De Magistris.
Caldarola had been free since 1434, when a papal bull released it from the state of Camerino. In October 2016 two shocks, on the twenty-sixth and the thirtieth, ruined much of what the cardinal had built: the collegiate church, the sanctuary, the monastery, the churches of the hamlets — in the lists the same line repeats itself unchanged.
