Fiuminata

Province: Macerata · Region: Marche · Population: 1,497 · Postal code: 62025

Fiuminata is a scattered comune, and the town hall is not at Fiuminata but in a hamlet, Massa. For centuries there were two comuni here, Fiuminata and Poggio Sorifa, each with its own administration: they were put together only in 1816. Near Fonte di Brescia rise the springs of the Potenza.

On the road that ran from the Flaminia towards Ancona stood the Roman staging post of Dubios; when it was abandoned, its stones probably went into the pieve of Santa Maria di Dubios, which in its turn disappeared between the sixteen and the seventeen hundreds. From here comes the crescia fogliata, a thin pastry rolled up with dried fruit, raisins and apples.
