Castelraimondo bears the name of the man who signed the building permit. The Castrum Raymundi is so called after the then rector of the March of Ancona, Raimondo di Attone da Aspet, legate and nephew of pope Clement V, who granted the building of the castle to the lord of Camerino, Berardo I Da Varano, and to the captain of the people Manno de Labranca: so says a parchment dated the first of December 1311 and kept in the State Archive of Florence. The castle was no whim. It was part of the Intagliata, a line of towers, ditches and great walls that the Da Varano had had built in defence of Camerino, which was on the Guelph side, for a stretch of twelve kilometres from Pioraco to Torre Beregna, during the wars with the neighbouring Ghibelline comuni, Matelica and San Severino Marche. The piece that remains is the Cassero, the forward watchtower thirty-eight metres high, raised presumably between 1311 and 1318, originally crenellated and divided into three floors: it was the most important part of a castle ringed by two ditches and at least eleven bastions, and it has ended up on the comune's arms.

Along the same Intagliata stands the castle of Lanciano, which was another Da Varano fortress and which in 1489 Giovanna Malatesta, wife of Giulio Cesare Da Varano, turned into a Renaissance residence; in the seventeen hundreds it was bought by marquis Alessandro Bandini, who restored it with the help of the Camerino architect Giovanni Antinori. In the hamlet of Crispiero was born Nazareno Strampelli, the geneticist and agronomist who changed Italian wheat. The church of San Biagio is documented from 1330: after the earthquake of 1799 its façade was rebuilt, and after a fire that broke out in 1906 the interior had to be redone. Today San Biagio, the Cassero and the town hall are all three unusable because of the earthquake of 2016 — that is, the three things that define the town are shut at the same time. What is remade every year, instead, is the Corpus Christi infiorata: the village's associations lay their carpets of flowers along the whole main street in the night between Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday morning they are taken apart.
