The comune was born on the first of January 2017, when Fiordimonte and Pievebovigliana put themselves together; the name is new, and neither of the two villages bears it. At San Maroto stands the church of San Giusto, Romanesque, of the eleventh century: instead of the usual long plan it has a central body with four chapels set around it, and in the bell tower pieces of fourteenth-century frescoes remain.
The castle of Beldiletto was raised by the Da Varano of Camerino in the fourteenth century; towards the end of the fifteenth the same family turned it into a villa, that is, stopped defending itself and began to entertain. Where the Chienti was dammed the lake of Polverina formed, now an oasis and a place where many birds stop.
