Feast of Saint Nicholas
📅 Every year, on 6 December
On 6 December Frascaro celebrates its patron Saint Nicholas, to whom the town's church is dedicated.
The name probably comes from frasca, a leafy branch: the first houses likely stood against the Cerreta wood. At Isola Grande, digging for a new road turned up what was almost certainly a fifth- or sixth-century barbarian village; the skeletons had skull deformations common among the tribes of eastern Germania.
The first sure mention is from 1192: two notarial loan deeds; in one a Bonizzone of Frascaro lends eight lire interest-free, repayable within the year. In 1486 the men of Gamondio shared that wood out among some fifty families. From far off the parish church of San Nicolao shows a yellow bell tower, a clock and a slate spire.
