Feast of Saint Maurice
📅 Every year, on 22 September
On 22 September Terzo celebrates Saint Maurice the Martyr; one of the village's churches bears the same title.
Terzo lies on the left bank of the Bormida and carries a measurement in its name: the Latin ad tertium lapidem counted three Roman miles from Aquae Statiellae, today's Acqui Terme, along the via Aemilia Scauri. The arms keep the count: beside the crosier of the bishops of Acqui stands a milestone marked III.
Of that lordship the tower survives, twenty-five metres high, raised between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries; from the top the Erro and Bormida valleys open out. In 1928 a royal decree abolished the comune and made it a hamlet of Acqui Terme, named Terzo d'Acqui; in 1947 Terzo was a comune again, its old name back.
