The patron of Montechiaro d'Asti is San Bernardo di Mentone, celebrated on 20 August; the municipality holds the Chiesa di San Nazario e San Celso.
Montechiaro is one of the seven municipalities that take part in the Palio di Asti, an ancient festival that culminates on the first Sunday of September with the race of horses ridden 'bareback', that is without a saddle, in Piazza Alfieri in Asti; it won the Palio in 1981. Every year, since 1988, the Fiera Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco is held in November, with exhibitions and tastings in the square.
