Tollegno

Province: Biella · Region: Piedmont · Population: 2,645 · Postal code: 13818

The old parish church is called Curavecchia: it is Romanesque, its bell tower is eleventh-century, and today it is a national monument owned by a Biella research centre. Its place as parish church was taken in 1799 by San Germano d'Auxerre, which had begun as a confraternity church.

Between 1920 and 1925 a workers' village was built beside the spinning mill. The comune is small for a particular reason too: unlike the other towns of the Biella country, it has no mountain hamlets in the pastures of the upper valley.
