Trinità

Province: Cuneo · Region: Piedmont · Population: 2,188 · Postal code: 12049

The village is named after a monastery that no longer exists. In 1008 the papers of the church of Asti describe a settlement grown at the gates of the monastery of Santa Trinità e San Michele Arcangelo: nothing is left of the monastery, but the name stayed.

The coat of arms is old: Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy granted it himself, by decree in 1561. On the square stand the civic tower, an old bell tower ending in a pyramid, and the church of the Santissima Trinità, Piedmontese baroque, both in brick. The castle of the Costa counts has lost its trade and become a cultural centre, with a wide view of the Alpine arc.
