Soriso

Province: Novara · Region: Piedmont · Population: 781 · Postal code: 28010

Soriso is a comune in the province of Novara; in Piedmontese it is called Soris. Above the roofs stands the church of San Giacomo, set on a rise held up by a wall of rough stone, and from a distance it is the bell tower you pick out, not the façade.

The tower is bare stone, with a belfry and a clock face, ending in an octagonal lantern under a pale dome. A portico of round arches on stone columns runs along the flank of the church, and painted panels still show under the arcade. Beside it a low building with a tiled roof all but disappears under ivy.
