Cascinette d'Ivrea

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 1,491 · Postal code: 10010

Cascinette d'Ivrea became a municipality of its own only in 1925, when it broke away from Chiaverano; in Piedmontese it is still Cassinëtte d'Ivrèja. The Canavese variant of the Via Francigena crosses its land: the route comes in from Ivrea, skirts the Lago di Campagna and carries on towards Burolo.

Above the roofs stands the bell tower, visible from far off: bare stone up the shaft, then a yellow-plastered upper stage with the clock faces, a belfry opened by arched windows and a dark spire with a weather vane. Around it are trees and the low roofs of the houses.
