Condove

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 4,670 · Postal code: 10055

Condove's territory is nearly all mountain: 77 hamlets climb the side valleys on the left bank of the Val di Susa, and the highest point, Punta Lunella, comes close to two thousand eight hundred metres.

In 1936 Condove took in Mocchie and Frassinere, until then comuni of their own and with more people than it had: they sat mid-slope on the sunny side, while Condove sits on the valley floor. The three asked for the union, but in doing so they were following a suggestion from the prefecture, and the debts weighed — Mocchie and Frassinere had run them up building the road that still links them to the valley floor. Condove, industrialised by then, could take them on.
