Favria

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 5,230 · Postal code: 10083

The name comes from fabrica, the Latin word for a workshop, recorded here in 1110: philologists explain the shift by the weakening of the consonants between vowels, the b and the c, out of which came Favria.

The village lies in the Canavese, north of Turin. The building worth the stop is San Pietro Vecchio, a church of old origins, of the eleventh and twelfth centuries, which keeps a cycle of fifteenth-century frescoes; the village also has its castle.

Saints Peter and Paul, patrons of the town of the cow palio

📅 Every year, the last week of June; on 4 April the palio with a cow contest for Saint Isidore

Favria celebrates Saints Peter and Paul with the patronal feast in the last week of June, when fairground rides are set up along Via Bonaudo and the squares it crosses; on 4 April, the day of Saint Isidore of Seville, the palio is held instead, featuring a contest between two cows.
