Perrero

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 723 · Postal code: 10060

The name may come from the medieval word pererium, a stony place, and stone is not lacking in the middle Germanasca valley. Today's comune dates from 1928, when eight neighbouring municipalities, Perrero, Chiabrano, Traverse, Maniglia, San Martino di Perrero, Riclaretto, Faetto and Bovile, were joined into one with Perrero as its seat. Above the Faetto glen the land reaches the Cialancia basin, now a nature park.

The village has the church of Santa Maria Maddalena and the Waldensian temple, whose pale front faces a climbing street: two columns carry a small pediment over the door, and higher up the lit lampstand among the stars, the Waldensian emblem, is painted on the wall.
