The tree on the town's arms stands for the apple orchards that named Pomaretto; the mitre beside it recalls that in 1064 countess Adelaide gave this land to the abbey of Santa Ilaria in Pinerolo. The village sits where the Germanasca valley opens off the Chisone, on its left bank.
The Waldensian temple was finished in 1828, replacing an older building on an unhealthier site; the Waldensian hospital had opened two years earlier. A pillared porch stands under the pediment, a line of Scripture cut across the architrave, the bell tower on the left. The Catholic church of San Nicolao became an independent parish in 1688.
